Don Jazzy contracted to make Africa Cup of Nations 2013 theme song

Top music producer Don Jazzy has been contracted to make the official theme song for the coming 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The producer says he’s looking for an artiste to work with on the project and is giving them the opportunity to reco rd their version of a track off D’Prince‘s album ‘Frenzy‘ to qualify.

Artistes are expected to record a video and upload it online before November 30, 2012. The winner will be picked on December 2, 2012.

The winner, according to Don Jazzy, will win a million Naira and gets to sing the official theme song.

First, second and third runner ups will get two hundred and fifty thousand Naira (N250,000) each.

Sunshine stars gets Caf champions league semi final ticket

Nigeria sole representative in  Caf continental championships, Sunshine Stars Fc of Akure has been giving a life line into the knock out stage of  Africa’s premier club competition, the Caf champions league. This feat came into being after group opponent Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia was disqualified due to fans’ unruly behaviour during the game against their local rivals Esperance Sportif of Tunisia.

Former CCL champions Etoile du Sahel have been thrown out of the Caf Champions League after the disciplinary committee of the competition found their fans guilty of pitch invasion, missile throwing and the release of fire crackers during their game against Esperance on August 19.

Esperance won the match 2-0 but were attacked by fans of Etoile in a closed game open only to the home fans.

In disqualifying Etoile, the disciplinary committee quoted Article 7 paragraph 6 of the rules governing the tournament: ‘If the referee is forced to stop the match before the end of the regular time because of invasion of the field or aggression against the visiting team, the host team shall be considered loser and shall be eliminated from the competition, without prejudice to the sanctions existing in the regulations.’

All of Etoile’s matches have now been cancelled and the table redrawn with Esperance and Nigeria’s Sunshine Stars both sharing six points on top of the log while Algeria’s ASO Chlef have no points.

Esperance and Sunshine Stars are set to take the semi-final places.
